Success Stories: Elaine Mackin
Real People | Real Opportunity
Elaine Mackin, RGM of Store 2452 in White Hall, Arkansas, has been with NPC for six years.
Elaine is a proud grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of two. She spent her life raising three children in an abusive marriage, and after her children were grown, Elaine decided that it was time to take her life back. At that point she set out on an adventure, and she hasn’t looked back since. She met and married the love of her life, her husband, and the couple moved to Sheridan, Arkansas.
With everything else in her life falling perfectly into place, Elaine went from one job to another trying to find a career that both challenged and fulfilled her. One day while driving past a strip mall in Sheridan, Elaine noticed that a new Pizza Hut was going in.
“I almost did not stop but I thought why not give it a shot and see if they will hire me,” Elaine said. “I stopped in, and it just so happened that the AGM was there. He told me to put in my application and he would look at it.”
Lo and behold, a few days later Elaine got a call from the AGM. He interviewed interviewed her for shift manager position, and she got the job.
“I will never forget the day we opened. The AGM looked at me as I walked in and said, ‘I hope you believe in trial by fire because its fixing to get hot in here.’ Boy did it ever. Now, I have worked four jobs most of my life, so I figured I was ready for it… Trust me, by the end of that night I was feeling my age! But I LOVED it! I knew I had found my new forever home!” Elaine said.
Two years later, Elaine became the RGM of her unit.
“And I see no stopping in sight,” she said. “I have a desire to become an AGM. My area manager, Greg Bobo, has been an awesome mentor for me and has coached me along the way to follow my dream.”
During her years with Pizza Hut, Elaine has had the opportunity to working in many Pizza Hut stores. She’s been called in as the expert to help get new units set up. She’s helped out when neighboring restaurants didn’t have a manager.
“Or, just filing in where needed and I love, love, love it,” Elaine said.
“This company has been so great, and it has given me so many opportunities. The best thing about this company is…. well, it’s every thing! Interacting with customers, working and training the team members, watching them develop into shift managers, assistants, and RGMs. It’s kind of like watching my children grow up all over again and succeed in life!”
Elaine’s unit became a CTU about a year ago, and she’s already had the opportunity to train a new AGM.
“I did not think in my life I would ever find a place that I belonged but I did,” Elaine said. “Pizza Hut,” she continued. “And I am here until they get tired of me.”
Our purpose of delivering FUN perfectly describes what keeps Elaine motivated to perform everyday.
“The smile on the face of my customers says it all,” she said. “If I can make their day great, I feel I have succeeded.”
She says it’s all about giving back to the company and the customers who she feels have given her so much. “Thank you for the chance to tell my story of how I love this company and how it has given me, ME back.”
