Steve Ampula Retires After 41 Years With Pizza Hut
The time has come, and we are losing a great one from the Above-Restaurant Leader ranks at Pizza Hut. Steve Ampula will be hanging up his pan grippers on September 11, and all those who have had the pleasure of working with Steve will miss his leadership.
Steve began his career with Pizza Hut when he was hired as a cook right after graduating from Florida State with a degree in Meteorology. (He still has the looks and the hair for TV.) Steve was quickly promoted to Shift Manager, and four months later, he was promoted to Assistant Manager. He caught the “Pizza Hut fever” as he was promoted to RGM and then Area Manager in 1982 in Rome, Georgia. Steve went on to be a Region Manager in Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida. He has touched the lives of future leaders across the country as their supervisor and mentor as he has worked in many different states during his 41 years.
Steve’s fondest memory while with Pizza Hut happened early in his tenure with the company. He met a fantastic server, Carol, and eventually they fell in love, got married and have recently celebrated 38 years together. They have a son and two grandchildren.
Steve has meant a great deal to the teams and colleagues he has worked with over the years. He will truly be missed, and we all appreciate Steve for his willingness to help anyone, his quick wit, sharp intelligence and maniacal approach to the business. Thank you for 41 great years, Steve Ampula!
